a proposal to tsumori

I’ve been drooling over Tsumori Chisato for a little while now, feeling nothing but utter admiration and love for everything she creates. I honestly feel like I could be happy wearing only her designs and no one else’s for the rest of my life, so let’s make this official. Tsumori Chisato, will you marry me?

short series

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I find it hard to not look like a stereotypical American tourist when wearing shorts in the summer. There are, of course, ways of getting around that “American” (not that there’s anything wrong with that) look, by maybe wearing a pair of unbelievably hip sandals or dangerously short 80’s shorts, or by sticking with this year’s obvious solution, the “romper.” But let’s face it, we can’t wear a romper every day. This summer, I want to make shorts cool again! Like really cool. How will I do that you ask? Well, I’m still working on it…¬† but we can at least start with some shorts that won’t make you feel too much like a Griswald.

Shop these looks at shopbird, urban outfitters, letrainbleu, and topshop.

jumelle’s my jam

Lately, I’ve been looking around, not for clothing, but for clothing inspiration. Since I’m jobless, I’ve been banging around on my sewing machine, creating a few key pieces for my own spring/summer wardrobe. Today I checked back on a shop I always liked, called Jumelle and was happy to come across their new “spring in bloom” selections. Here are my faves (I love that crazy belt and the casual, slingy shape of the marble romper).

SXSR

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a love for colorful clothing. I love it in every form: in a transitional monochromatic outfit or an all-out color migration fest. What sticks out from Sonia by Sonia Rykiel’s new spring/summer 09 collection is that there is a very particular color palette: Yellow, purple, black, white and hot pink. The organization of these five colors is the collection’s ultimate attraction. The simple but precise layout makes me feel like these are the only 5 colors I’ll ever need for the rest of my life because the combination of them is just perfect. Take a peek below… isn’t the purple shorts outfit just so pretty?!

Once again, the amazing bird shop is one place to buy sonia clothes.

Romper Roundup

In my search for the perfect short jumper, my lazy self conjured up an image of a one-piece that I could throw on almost daily without much effort involved. It would be a my-hair-has-just-been-frizzly-blow-dried romper, as well a morning-after brunch romper. In other words, a chameleon onesie. I know I set myself up with somewhat high expectations, and this is probably why I don’t actually have a large wardrobe. But personality disorder aside and lasso in hand, I rounded up some grade A rompers. I seem to have found a different romper for each occasion but alas, not THE romper for every occasion. At least not one within my wallet’s reach. But oh, these are pretty!

middle eastern fashion crisis

Last night I purchased a few things online in order to kick start my spring wardrobe. I’m basically forced to utilize online shopping since the Middle Eastern shopping scene has not offered me much fashion hope, as of yet. And being that almost all websites will not ship to this country, I have to send everything to my parents in Florida in order for my mum to forward everything on to me. By the time my shipment actually arrives, so has a new season! It’s a sad state of affairs. Pity party aside, I can’t wait to paw at my fresh new friends. I’d like to add a few more pop pieces but here’s what’s in store so far (from urban outfitters, leviticus jewelry and BR).

P.S. –¬† I highly recommend you check out the sweet, one-of-a-kind, handmade¬† jewelry at Leviticus Jewelry. I’m excited to float around town in my hot-air balloon!
