tis now the season!

Yeay! Urban Outfitters finally just publicly released their holiday items online. I posted a peek to their lookbook a few weeks ago here. These are my favorite pieces (minus the zebra print jacket… it’s not online yet) in newly photographed angles with links… gotta have this sequin cardigan!

A cami in the winter seems a bit paradoxical but I think one can be worth it when paired with the right layers. Here are my favorites. For the holidays… (I’m in love with this green velvet cami.)

The long sleeved body con dress seems to be ‘taking shape’ everywhere this fall. I don’t have one yet, but it seems like a fun piece to sport, and more specifically, layer and cardiganize. I loved that shorter sleeve, Silence + Noise, floral version that came out a little while back,  but this S+N Strong Shoulder dress is my new fave:

ready for rain

The rain is pouring outside tonight and the dog is appropriately snuggled up against me. I’ve got a belly full of peanut butter and jam crepe and a tall glass of orange juice. I love breakfast for dinner. Soon I’ll need to venture out into the rain and I’m realizing now that I’m not very equipped for it. Turns out my little, white booties aren’t exactly waterproof, so I figure I’ll have to beef up the outfit I wore for Yorkshire’s drizzle…

I love Mociun’s fall ‘09 photoshoot. I can feel its cozy, yet urban warmth. And the clothes are, as always, a hit.

canadian virginia

I was browsing around Lena Corwin’s blog today and was excited to discover a designer friend of hers, Canadian textile designer, Virginia Johnson. Like Lena, Virginia’s talent lies in producing simple, yet colorful and beautiful prints. Virginia paints her prints using watercolors, which are then silkscreened onto a range of fabrics from light-weight cotton to merino wool. I especially love her shawls and bags.

Yesterday evening I stepped outside to take the dog for a walk and I had a lovely moment of peacefulness: the cool air rolling in very slowly, the piano playing neighbors filling the neighborhood with soul, the fallen, soggy red and orange leaves sticking to the parked cars, and the street lamps casting warm shadows on the sidewalk… It’s almost wrapping up time here. natural causes?

I had been a fan of Rachel Comey for a while, but felt a little betrayed today after I was confronted by this thing. I suppose its “Baby Alpaca Fur, all died of natural causes,” note is a decent attempt at justifying the offense but I’m still not happy about it. Am I alone in this disappointment?
